Open iPhone SDK?

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 |

I promise that we’ll eventually stop posting about the iPhone. But for now, we’re going to post about the iPhone…

Electronista is reporting that Apple’s inherent policy of ‘from my cold dead hands’ may be a little bit more lax when the iPhone SDK potentially rolls out this March. With the possibility of unchecked programs being traded about at no cost, there should be a surge of new software to take advantage of your favorite gadget to show off.

By the way, prior to previous statements, we’re more than likely never going to stop posting news about the iPhone. But hey, you go and try and find Mac Mini news. It’s not easy.

New MacBook and MacBook Pro Released

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 |

The speculations for this Tuesday where confirmed today when Apple announced the release of the new MacBook and MacBook Pros featuring the Penryn Core 2 Duo processors. Along with that, the MacBook now comes with a 2.1 GHz processor and a 120GB Hard drive, all standard for the base model. The processor can be upgraded all the way up to 2.4 GHz and you can get a Blackbook with an insane 250GB Hard drive if you so desire. As for the MacBook Pros, the processor speeds now start at 2.4 GHz and can go all the way up to 2.6 GHz. The 17′ inch model starts at 2.5 GHz and now comes with a LED Backlit screen option. Also to note, a much bigger hard drive weighing in at 200GB, a Multi-touch trackpad, and 256MB of VRAM for the included Nvidia 8600GT all come standard with the new MBP.

The only disappointing thing about these new Macs is the fact that Apple now forces you to pay $19 for an Apple Remote as they are not included in the box anymore.

Keyboard update for the MacBook and MacBook Pro

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 |

Apple has released an update for the MacBook and MacBook Pro today that addresses some issues with their keyboard functionality. Here is Apple’s painfully detailed description on what the update accomplishes: “This MacBook and MacBook Pro firmware update addresses an issue where the first key press may be ignored if the computer has been sitting idle. It also addresses some other issues.” Awesome. Looks like I need this one.

If you have been suffering from this problem or are not sure and still want to install it, you can open the Software Update to do so (Apple Menu > Software Update) or you can just download the installer directly from Apple.

You can read the full release notes on Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0 here.
